Silgan Master Scheduler in Winfield, Kansas

General Function:

Supervise the production planning function including preparing the Master Schedule for Winfield in order to meet the customer’s requirements. Duties also include planning, preparing, and purchasing material for production schedules for manufacture of products. Also responsible for maintaining finished goods, molded components, raw materials consignment and critical inventories. Liaison between manufacturing, field sales and customer service.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:


Master Schedule all plant product lines for assembly including the scheduling of export part sales. Assist manufacturing in establishing appropriate crewing level and overtime based on current business levels to insure maximum customer satisfaction within the company stated goals. Maintain S&OP for each product line.


Track and optimize levels of Raw Materials, Finished Goods, and Molded Components inventories. Monitors and actions all materials in, MB,MR, AR, SP. Responsible for prioritizing sorting and scrapping of these inventories. Compile and submit surplus lists. Develop new inventory strategies for surplus goods, molded components, and finished goods that align with plant production and performance. Apply Kan Ban concepts where applicable.


Maintain and monitor finished goods, consignment, and critical parts inventories based on customer commitments or overall company established goals. Provide direct support to key customer accounts working from blanket orders and customer supplied release documents and forecasts. Monitors customer liabilities/discontinued items and works toward customer resolution


Provide miscellaneous information and reports to appropriate personnel as required in support of the overall sales effort; i.e. two-period forecast, consignment inventory, On time in full (OTIF) and master schedule.


Purchase and schedule material to support production schedule. Establish new part numbers and ensure accuracy. Provide backup to Buyer/Planners. Supervise the Buyer/Planners.


Monitor Shipments and Shipments performance report to ensure accurate and timely departure of orders. This includes the establishment of shipping priorities when applicable.

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from an accredited institution.

  • Four years related experience and/or training.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals and practices of production control, plant scheduling, and materials requirements planning.

  • Excellent analytical skills required to review computer prepared: sales order, inventory, schedule, and other data and identify problems and delays in sustaining uninterrupted production.

  • Knowledge of MRP and ERP systems and applications required.

  • APICS certification desirable, but not required.
