Responsibilities

Summary: Program Wire EDM and VMC’s using Mastercam V9 and X4 programs. Programs will be created from drawings, sample parts or sketches. Machines will be set up to run programs. These programs will be multi-surface and axis. Insure that finished product meets all specifications and any changes are documented.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Perform CNC programming for wire EDM and VMC’s from drawings, sketches or physical parts

  • Troubleshoot and modify programs as required

  • Set up and run parts on CNC Machining Centers, CNC wire EDM

  • Identify materials used and insure they meet requirements for parts being built

  • Follow all standard design specifications, use standardized components in designs when possible

  • Be able to evaluate designs for fit, function, as well as meeting Coleman design criteria

  • Keep work area and equipment clean and in proper working condition.This will include all guards and safety functioning as specified by the Machine Guarding Policy

  • Work in a team environment.This will include communication about and/or follow up on projects

  • Support team objectives

  • Observe all safety rules

  • Required experience running Mastercam V9 and X4 programs

  • Must be able to read blueprints

  • Must have understanding of materials and specifications

  • Must be able to troubleshoot mold, die, tooling and machine problems

  • Experience with Mig and Tig welding of aluminum, steel and stainless steel is a plus

  • Must be able to set up and run manual lathes, mills, OD/ID grinders and surface grinders

  • Requires the use and/or interpretation of tool and engineering drawings, sketches, templates, manuals, etc.

  • Must be proficient in the use of precision measuring tools

  • Must have a working knowledge of cutter/wire compensation and tool offsets

  • Must be able to work in a team environment and possess good facilitation skills

  • Must have ability to train other members of the department as required

  • Must have project management experience.This includes: overall project goals, material and personnel utilization, working with PM coordinator to track material and labor costs of the project and be able to report results

  • Completes required reports and other documentation on assigned work and/or inspections

  • Must be flexible in working different shifts and be able to work a weekend schedule

  • Other projects as assigned

Education and/or Experience: Journeyman Mold Maker with five to seven years programming CNC equipment. Trade school or 2 year Associates degree preferred or equivalent of education and related experience. Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions presented in English.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of management, engineers and co-workers. Must be able to effectively communicate both written and verbally.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Journeyman Tool & Die Maker Certificate (or equivalent experience)

  • Valid Forklift License
