The purpose of this position is to operate equipment associated with the biodiesel and glycerin crude processes. Operators in this position are responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the biodiesel plant and the associated processes. This role will be an exciting opportunity for the right individuals to become a part of a dynamic team, with opportunities to advance within Cargill.

The purpose of this position is to operate equipment associated with the lecithin, biodiesel, glycerin and utilities processes.Technicians in this position are responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the loadout processes, lecithin, biodiesel, utilities, and crude glycerin, with minimal supervision.They will ensure that the equipment is fully operational and in good repair.Interacts on a regular basis with plant technicians, supervisors, chemical truck drivers and finished product haulers.

Principal accountabilities:

  • 60% Safely operate all equipment associated with the production process: including utilities, reactors, distillation, separators, and drying

  • Systems, including monitoring and adjusting operations using computerized and controlled systems to meet departments requirements.

  • 20% Safely manage loading and unloading of finished products and chemicals.

  • 10% Trouble shooting problems as required and light maintenance using various hand tools

  • 5% Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for environmental impact of the operation by completing all housekeeping assignments, working to improve the condition of the department, and work as a team member with a positive attitude.

  • 5% Attend various mandatory safety and department meetings.

Requirements

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.

  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old

  • Valid/current driver’s license.

  • High School diploma or Equivalent.

  • Must be able to read/write English.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Knowledge of basic tools and maintenance related subjects.

  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, and work in confined spaces.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work in elevated areas.

  • Must be able to operate heavy machinery – forklift, rail mover, etc.

  • Ability to workovertime

  • Ability to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts

  • Able to work in hot, cold, wet, dry conditions.

Preferred

  • Able to operate heavy equipment

  • Forklift certified

  • Prior experience in production or mechanical related work.

  • Process Technology training -including instruction in engineering principles, physics, chemistry, process equipment and systems and operations
