We have an exciting opportunity for a Bid and Proposal Coordinator at our Wellington, KS facility.
Who you’ll work with
The Bid and Proposal Coordinator will work closely with the Estimator, both of whom will have primary responsibilities while supporting each other to insure the bid projects are completed successfully.

Primary responsibilities for the Proposal Coordinator are to thoroughly review the proposal solicitations received (RFQ, RFP, RFI, etc.) and ensure that GKN has all necessary data to provide a compliant proposal/bid. Download customer data from the various customer portals as requested by the Estimator. Schedule the gate reviews, prepare all gate packages and present the same, and complete all mandatory forms in accordance with the GKN Aerospace Bid Process and site procedures. Hold bid status meetings to insure all stakeholders/functions provide bid inputs by the required deadline. Review supplier quote to make sure GKN’s bid is appropriately documented. Challenge assumptions as needed to insure best value is offered. Prepare proposal volumes when required. Assist in preparation and validation of all inputs in BOM, etc. Keep the site quote log up to date for submission date and win/loss status. Other duties as assigned.
Secondary responsibilities will be to learn and become proficient at the estimating process. Work with the AMS estimating team to learn how to estimate labor and material costs of manufacturing and engineering based on request for proposal (RFP) data submitted by prospective customers. Analyzes specifications, including sketches, blueprints, bills of material, or sample layouts, and calculates production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data. Collects cost data from functional representatives. Computes estimates of raw materials or subcontracted work and labor. Prepares and maintains historical cost data. Creates cost models for cost estimating elements. Prepares cost reports and presents findings to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators, customer representatives, price auditors, vendors, and subcontractors.
· BS in engineering or BA in business, finance or accounting or minimum of 7 years practical experience.
· Minimum 4 years related experience in aerospace manufacturing environment with machine shop experience preferred.
Minimum of 2 years manage several projects and quotes at one time while meeting tight deadlines.
Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
Comfortable presenting to top management.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word.
Ability to read blueprints
Ability to read Bills of Material
Excellent attention to detail
Demonstrate competency in managing competing priorities and deadlines for large quote/bid packages, price reductions, and day-to-day management of RFQ’s, re-quotes, etc.
Strong financial acumen.
Experience with databases, database queries and analysis
Experience with Enovia.
Government contracting experience is a plus
Knowledge of Enovia
