Job DescriptionTests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties. Inspects incoming package material and ingredients. Performs quality and environmental testing and inspections.

ResponsibilitiesResponsible for all HACCP Analysis and any related HACCP issues, informing the QC Manager. Deputy for Senior QC Technician’s HACCP responsibilities.

Responsible for ensuring compliance with all QC requirements and providing leadership to drive continuous improvements in product quality. Understands the importance of product safety, legality and quality – Informs the Plant Manager and/or QC Manager or any issues.

Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as particle size and chemical characteristics. Selects and tests package material and ingredients for adherence to specifications.

Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.

Performs various environmental inspections and analyses.

Monitors all in process salt and finished goods for quality compliance including the disposition of non-conforming product.

Performs GMP/sanitation inspections.

Assists in the investigation of a customer complaint.

Conducts testing ans assists the production department in achieving pellet quality goals.

Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.

Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.

Prepares graphs or charts of data and enters data into computer for analysis.

Maintains communication with Operations supervisory personnel on status of testing and releasing of finished goods, disposition of out-of-specification product, status of testing by operations personnel and general quality and environmental informaiton.

QualificationsEducation and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university;

One to two years related experience and/or training preferred.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
